In this blog we will tell you all about how to fertilize your plants, how to deal with plant pests and how to use vegan fertilizer and insecticide made by PLANTMOM

1. How to fertilize my plants

Fertilizer is a naturally occurring or chemical substance that makes plants grow. Plant food is important indoor and outdoor, however it is important to know what the breakdown of fertilizer is to get the best from your plants! The best time to fertilize your plants is late March to mid-October when they are in growing season! Not all plants need the same type of food, here are some common plants and their feeding requirements.

Organic fertilizer by PLANTMOM!

Chemical fertilizers and pesticides are known to have very dangerous effects, however it is widely used in agriculture and horticulture and even our homes. Not only does it lead to poor plant quality and soil, but in large agriculture farms the build up in nitrogen is lethal for fish and poison nearby rivers and lakes.

That is why PLANTMOM created safe and natural horticulture products. PLANTMOM fertilizer is made from sustainably cultivated seaweed. Seaweed has numerous effects and uses from food to textiles and is able to be grown safely with minimal impact to our planet. Seaweed also contains important nutrients like nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium, as well as traces of magnesium, zinc, and iron which are also really good for all types of plants.

2.  How do I deal with plant pests

Lets face it, if you want or have an indoor jungle, you may experience a bug or two. It is a normal part of plant parenthood. However it is important to know how to spot them before it becomes a lethal infestation.

Tips to spotting pests (before you see them):

  1. Unusual yellowing? Yellowing can mean several things including moisture stress, and environmental stress, but it can also mean you may have some mites living in your plants.
  2. Sticky leaves? Some plants “sweat” through their leaves through a process called Transpiration, however if you notice very sticky bottom leaves, your plant may have pests.
  3. Tiny webs? This is a common sign of a spider mite problem!
